Question for all motor peeps???
Ok, i asked this in the general forum and no one seems to be able to give me some good info so here goes: I am going to be rebuiliding my 94 gsr motor and want to know exactly what I would need and what company is recommended for each part. i was thinking about replacing the pistons, rods, valves, retainers, springs, cams, and gears.....anything else I should do? i'm also gonna P&P the head....I am planning on spending around 1500-2000.....my good friend is an excellent engine builder so i'm just talking about the parts......install will be close to free (thank God).....any info is greatly appreciated...thanks
well let me ask you this...what kind of parts do you want to use? OEM or aftermarket? bottom end wise, do you want to run aftermarket rods and pistons or just OEM pistons and rods? same goes for the head...give a little more info on what you want...then im sure someone else will help you out
well... 1500-2000 will hardly cut it.. i spent 2700 just on the block being biult. most people go with JE pistons (which i did). i also went with eagle rods. i got my block bored and sleeved to 84mm.. its an LS block BTW. and my head which cost near 1000 to P & P. get either ITR internals for yer head unless u plan on revvin high, then go with like portflow or somthing. hmm anything else i missed??
get good set of cams and cam gears, with that u would need an upgraded vavletraine.. like Skunk2, Toda, Jun or somthing.. if price is an issue, skunk2 is good.

well with the budget you have this what i recommend.... ctr pistons, use your stock rods. dont p&p your head.. its just not within the budget you want to spend.for the head portflow valvetrain with toda spec b's. get yourself a prodrive oil pump gear, they will save you engine i swear by them. get your self some injectors, an intank fuel pump, a good filter. get your self a skunk2 ecu and a V-AFC. that exact setup ran a 13.0 in one of my customers cars. it was a full intereiored ek hatch. its a budget setup that works..
If your on a budget hers what I would do
Micro polish crank 25$
new bearings 175$
ctr pistons, new rings, and stock rods 350$
Stock head with portflow valve train 300$
skunk stage 2 cams 700$
skunk 2 intake manifold 300$
cam gears 175$
That about maxes ou your budget. Prices are aproximate, and labor is assumed free. Add a good header and exhaust, and some good tuning ( chipped ecu or hondata) for about 1500$ later and you have a budget 200 horse motor
