got a question on that compression calculator....

on the bottom where it says piston to deck height...what does that mean? and which one do i choose? my rebuild is gonna be a b18c1 block with a p/p b16 head. im gonna use either a 2 layer or 1 layer gasket. which one should i choose?

It means how much in or out of the hole your pistons sit at top dead center. If you set your motor to tdc on a stock motor there will be a certain amount of cylinder volume between the top edge of the piston (not the dome) and your deck surface. So when your making the calculation you need to know how far your pistons are " in the hole" so you can calculate the volume # to add to the equation. It can go the other way also, like on my motor the pistons are at 0 deck which means they dont sit in the hole or out, their flush. (actually after break in and a few dyno runs , their slightly out )
Also to get a accurate reading you will need to know the actual thickness of the 2 layer gasket you will be using.
