question about hydraulic jacks
my car is 2.2tons
will a 2 ton jack be ok? i figured i'll only be raising the front of the car, which is much less than the overall weight. (68% front/32% rear)
or should i go for a 2 1/4 ton jack? (which is able to support the entire car)
thanks

Lifting the vehicle is one thing. Getting under it in that state is another. NEVER rely on the jack to hold your car up. Get a pair of jack stands at least, and be safe!
just to be safe go with the 2 1/4 ton jack all the 2.2 ton's of you car won't be on the jack

yeah, im planning on jacking the front up (e brake on), blocking the rears, putting a stand on each side, then lowering it.
i just wasnt sure if i should go for the 2 or 2.25 ton jack. i figured i'll save $10 by getting the 2 ton

a 2 ton jack will be fine. when you jack up your car, you're not lifting the entire weight of the vehicle at that one jacking point. i agree with the above statements that you should get as many jackstands under your car. they're the only safety net keeping the car from falling on you.
tho my car isn't 4 tons, i have a 4 ton hydraulic service jack with 4 3-ton stands and 2 6-ton stands... you can never have too much safety
