Question about hydralock
Well, I was just wondering: What exactly happens to an engine when it hydralocks? It sucks up water but what does the water do to damage the engine. How does it completely destroy the engine?
And also, after an engine is hydralocked, what do you need to do to get it running again? I got a b18c1 from a friends brother for $75 but it was hydralocked so I'm wondering what needs to be done to get the sucka running again. He told me that I need to replace the rods/pistons but what else could water do to an engine?

water goes in the intake, then it goes into the cylinders, then the rod/piston enters the compression stroke and seeing as water cannot be compressed, the rod is going to give. thats if your lucky, you could break your head, pistons, rods and sometimes even the crank depending on how much water was sucked in... either way, $75 isnt bad and i would just take apart the engine to see how it works and for nuts and bolts etc.

and how it damages the engine, as the engine does its thing is obviously sucks in air and fuel, then compresses it into a very small space. well water can NOT be compressed. so if you are sucking in water then the piston rotates up, something has to give. and it sure as hell wont be the water. so rods bend and break.
as for what is damaged, you are gonna have to have the engine torn down and inspected. and 75$ is a good deal.

Main thing is that the water can't be compressed and internals bend and or break.
Sometimes you can get bent valves cracked Cylinder walls. 75 bux is not a bad deal but if there are more problems than your friends bro lead you to believe then it might just turn into a $$$ pit.
If the Block casting is Cracked (can be a hair line crack or if the head is severly damaged then get your $$$ back ASAP.
