Default Quaife or OEM LSD

I did a search and really all I found out is that the OEM ITR LSD is cool, and the quaife is somewhat cooler (and has a lifetime warranty).

I'll be putting one or the other in my car in the coming months and I'd just like to know if the quaife is worth the extra $400 or so over a used OEM unit. Also, I have a 90 integra LS with a cable tranny. The part number for the quaife for my car is the same as Civic/del sol VTEC B16, Civic Si 99-01 VTEC dohc but different than the ITR. Does that mean the ITR LSD won't fit in my car?

Thanks

-Chris

ive got the quaife lsd in a jdm s1 vtec tranny so i had to use the quaife made for the 92-93 gsr. I dont think u can use the itr lsd unless you have a hydro tranny since ours are cable. as far as being worth it,

i would make it one of your last mods since its not going to really help unless u have some more power over stock. i had no choice since i broke the stock diff and in the process put a hole in my tranny casing!!! my motto, if u break something, replace it with a stronger and better piece.

Quaife lowered their list price to $895. I talked to them and got 20% off down to $719. I think it's a lot better than factory lsd.

I've installed both and the Quaife is better. No doubt. The Honda unit is cast nodular iron and the Quaife is billet steel.

Went there in person and talked to them. $719, I guess, was some kind of racer discount or? I would attempt a group buy if there is a lot of interest. Or let the guys that do the group buys take over.

doesn't a gear-type LSD sort of have more of an on/off feel? like you can feel it lock up?

Exactly the opposite. The feel is very "transparent" you don't really notice a specific change it just hooks up better and is MUCH more stable in turns. The Quaife is well worth the $$$, particularly at the new lower price.

just curious, cause i have yet to run my car 1/4 mile yet. how much of a gain is expected with a lsd vs. prelsd in times?? will it shave a few tenths??

I used to have a Kaaz and now i have a Quaife, and the Quaife is MUCH better. I havent really had much experience with the stock LSD so i dont really know, but the Quaife is definatey much smoother when compared to the KAaz(clutch type). Hope this helps

Quaife (pronounced: Quayfe)
everyone is saying it's "no doubt the best"
but I want to add.. If youre looking for a unit to cure the torque steer, then Quaife is not for you. You will still get torque steer especially with a torquey motor. Its more controllable without power steering.
Im sure most who have the Quaife, can relate. At times, it wants to turn too much, especially when youre near peak torque on the band taking a corner. Torque biasing ratio might be little too much.
LSD's & Quaifes dont improve straight line launch performance like most people think. They can actually hurt if your suspension & alignment is not up to par. Does it cure "wheel hop"? Nope, (more of a radius rod fix). With the Quaife its actually worse when it happens, but seems more controllable.

Does anyone have a link to a site where there is a detailed installation of an LSD and clutch with pics of the install.
