Would the OEM LSD from a 1st gen b16 tranny or ITR tranny fit into a GSR tanny? Is it somthing even worth while?

 

I suggest an ITR LSD over a B16A LSD, if you plan to drop either one into your GSR tranny. I believe the B16 LSD is smaller in diamater which in turn means you'll have to swap in the B16's final drive ring as well. On the other hand, the ITR LSD alone, will drop into your GSR tranny without anything else (no FD ring needed, you reuse your GSR's FD ring).

Do you know about what I could get a ITR LSD for?

 

I've seen them range from $300-550 used. Personally I don't know of anyone selling any in my area.

 

The $300 sounds good, now only if I can find one. What exactly is the ITR LSD called? Is it made by honda? Any info that could help me locate one would be good.

 

technically it's called a gear type Helical-torque LSD.
But there's not really a specific name for it, it just goes by 'Type-R LSD'. It is however different than other oem LSD's, like a JDM B16A's LSD.

 

They're about $800 from Acura.

 

I would like to buy a used one. If I wanted to spend $800, I would get a quaffa (SP?)
