Quaife LSD worth it?
Sup,
So im putting together my street car. Going to hit over 500whp for sure. I want to daily drive it at 250....and i guess race/abuse it in high power. I will not take this car to the track or race from a stop. Therefore is a Quaife that necessary?
Someone told me if you just doing races from a roll then its not needed. I've heard people running 10 second cars on a open differentalll..........
Lets say i decide to not go with a quaife, someone told me your tranny can blow if you do that.
Cliff notes= is quaife worth it if you are not running from a dig?
Without a quiafe using high power, is true your tranny can blow/
Thanks

It is DEFINITELY worth it from a roll AND from a stop. I was running open differential for a long time and from a roll (anything above 3500rpm) and the tires would spin, even above 50mph.
Even having the ITR diff in there (didn't last long though), I would spin my tires in the lower gears (even at a higher speed). In your case of 250-500whp, I would definitely recommend it.
I've always loved highway pulls because from a stop, my high power FWD couldn't even beat stock Mercedes driven by old people.
I would just sit there spinning my tires until 4th gear, not even pressing the gas hard.

Agreed, also, since you'll be spining one tire, you'll eat trough axles and tires. With the quaife you'll be sharing the loads on the two tires and axles and not be as abusive, and that's not even mentioning rain.
