Default Pulley Kit ?

What is the difference in all the pulley kits on the market?
AEM, OBX, CTR N1, Unorthodox, etc... I was thinking of going with the OBX since its just accessories kinda items. I dont want to waste to much money but would like to put a newer decent pulley on. So please share your view and experience on pulley kits.. thank you.

I only want to change it because the stock is old and alittle rusty.

The factory harmonic damper is the best - I killed a oil pump and bearings from harmonic vibrations from a ctr pulley

If by accessories you mean power steering and alternator, then no, you won't really feel a difference. Additionally, if your car has high electrical needs, or your alternator has slightly low output to begin with(a lot of 96-00 Civics have this problem, possibly other Hondas as well), then slowing down your alternator pulley isn't that great of an idea. I would try to source a replacement OEM pulley before messing with aftermarket pulleys.

I have had the Unorthodox Racing pulley kit: underdrive crank pulley, powersteering, alternator pulley, and cam gear. They have been on my turbo-charged D16Y8 for 170 000 kms of 285 000 kms and I have never had any problems. The oil pump still works, there is no evidence of crank issues. I do appreciate what the others say about harmonic resonance. From what I understand the frequency required to blow your engine apart occurs at sustained high rpms ie. driving in a race. So, for street and spirited driving, get your self a set. The amount of reduced mass = 3.11kg, or for the metrically impaired 6.85 lbs. Do your do diligence and research.

High rpm and torsional twist of the crank is the cause of harmonic vibrations, it's easy for anyone to say it's bs until your oil pump explodes into pieces

Unorthodox Racing's accessory pulleys aren't underdriven and won't adversely effect your charging, ac or power steering system.

To the OP: All Unorthodox pulleys are constructed of aluminum and are nicely polished (not too highly polished). If you are looking to dress up the engine bay but are worried about reliability these are a good choice.

something that people never really like to think about or address is when your moding or trying to extract extra performance out of an engine you are basically walking the line between reliability and performance if your worried about reliability do not mod your car leave it stock simple as that!

In other word the old saying you can not have your cake and eat it is so very true
