Default proper way to HONE

who has done their own hone job?

I'm going to be replacing the rings in my b18c1 and I want to do a hone. But what is the BEST most popular honing tool used?

and what is the proper technique?

I know just have to keep the drill/tool moving up and down evenly.. but how long do i need to do it for? do i need to be putting and oil or wd-40 or any other lube? also what grit stones to use? or is there something better to use?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

why not let a local shop do it? I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself if you are not 100% sure on what you're doing. Just my .02

I might just do that.. but the engine is going to be in the car. im just taking the head of and doing a semi rebuild while the motor is in the car.

you don't want to hone unless it's a bare block, you'll get metal and stone particals in the bottom end..if your not pulling the motor i'd leave the cylinders alone

i like the 3 stone cutting tools, but if you're a newby i wouldnt suggest doing it yourself

most people like the multi ball hone i hate those ******* things

make sure to use cutting oil and make sure you get 60 degreee intersections at a fresh clean metal layer, put the motor together quick............***** IRON rusts like a bitch (ask me how i know)
