Default tips for drillning squarely

I need to drill a hole straight down a bolt. Any tip for drilling straight down without going to the side? All I have is a drill with no level attached.

if you really want it precise, I suggest taking it to a machine shop. I wouldn't think that they would want any more than five bux for somehting that simple....heck, they might even do it for free.

If you lived clost to me I would take you over to my uncle's machine shop and do it for you.

You can get a decent drill press for $100 at lowes/home depot. I have one in my garage and it works great for small projects...

If it's a small enough part I would suggest just taking it to someone. It won't cost hardly anything at all.

The chuck might have some throw in it, so it might not be precise enough.

Just drill it while watching it from the side, and frequently check it from different angles....or have somebody watch you while you drill and tell you which way to go. Sometimes it's hard to tell how straight you are when you're the one doing the drilling.

Anyone want to do it for me? I'll pay for shipping and if you want, labor too.

Email me at double2gs@yahoo.com

you should give some details of exactly what you need done. if you just need a hole drilled through a bolt, I've got acess to a few machinist lathes and could do it quite easily.

so, cough up the details.
