Problems with External Coil Swap and Send It Racing Hookup
Got it all installed and am experiencing some strange issues. When I start it and idle it runs perfect. Much improved. Up to 4500 RPM again perfect. As soon as I get into boost it starts to break up Similar feeling when you have a spark plug gap too wide. I had my plugs gapped at .028. I swapped plugs to .025 and it didn't make much difference. I run 21lbs of boost. B18C VTEC ODB1 on Crome. Stock distributor.
Summit Box:
1. Power to battery
2. Thick black ground to battery tied in with the send it racing box black wire
3. Orange and black wires our to the coil positive and negative
4. White wire connected to the send it racing white wire
5. Red wire connected to the send it racing red wire and the positive wire from the original coil lead
6. I snipped the two wires on the box to make it a four cylinder
Send it Racing Box:
1. black ground to battery tied in with the summit box black wire
2. Red wire connected to the summit box red wire and the positive wire from the original coil lead
3. White wire connected to the summit box white wire
4. Green wire spliced to the A21 wire on my ODB1
Coil:
1. Original negative coil wire I ground to the shared engine block ground strap. I ran a wire through the distributor hole
2. The original (2) green wire positive coil wire I spliced the two into a red wire through the firewall to the summit and send it box
Notes of Concern:
1. I left the original coil in place to act as the dust shield but its not hooked up
2. As seen in pic below there is a small box under the original coil the wires come out of. I spliced in (AFTER) those connections to the box. Not sure what this little box does but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to splice in the wires before that say even before it enters the distributor?
Any help would be appreciated. Again it only seems to break up when hitting boost. Its also running leaner according to my AFR.
