Problem with valve clearance
I had to replace the headgasket in my Accord Wagon, so I did it. The head was resurfaced, valve seats reconditioned . I installed everything and the last thing to do was adjusting the valve lash. As usual I started from the first cylinder- intakes done, the first ehxaust valve done, second... ups... I can't stick my feeler gauge at all... I unscrewed the adjusting screw to the very top and still no gap... WTH? I turned the crank a few times- no strange sounds, everything smooth... Hmmm Went to the third cylinder and the story repeated... One ex valve has no gap... I left it like it was and adjusted 2 and 4 cylinder valves without any problems.
So after that I was left with two exhaust valves with no gaps... Of course they tap when the engine is on. What to do?

make sure when u turn the cam to the next set of valves, u are doing the right one. here is the order, Top ded Center Up is 1. then next when goes 3, then goes 4 then 2. make sure u rotate the cam counter clockwise.

Good point.

No offence intended. Are you sure that the cam timing is correct? Is there any point during the engine rotation where you can insert a feeler gauge into the valves for cylinders 1 and 3?

No, I can't insert the feeler gauge at all. But it's only ONE of two exhaust valves... It's not possible even if timing is bad. the second one is OK. It must be something different
