Default Problem with starting my integra.

I own a '94 integra ls stock. Frequently when i go try to start my car and i turn the key it makes a very slight clicking sound (just once) and the car doesnt even crank or try to start, absolutely nothing happens, almost like a dead battery but the lights, cd player, ect work. when this happens i can continually keep turning the key to try and start and after like 4 quick attempts it starts right up, doesnt even crank long. the past week it has been doing it to me a lot more often and i would like to resolve this. Thanks for any input u can provide. Bad Car!!

It could be a relay or the starter.

I agree with Gasoline Fumes. Probably the starter itself though. There is an easy way to check. Just have someone pop the hood and listen when you try to start it. If you can hear the click coming from the starter, then there is your problem. If not, search out the starter relay and go from there.

hey,

i no what the problem is, when you try to start the car it clicks and the engine doesnt rotate right? if that is the case its your starter. the slight click noise youre hearing is the solenoid pushing in the drive gear or something to turn your flywheel which is connected to your engine (duh). i really think its your starter motor and not all those fuel, ignition, relays MadDogDino was talkin about, no offence MadDogDino. good luck with your car.

My 94 GSR had that exact same problem.
I checked all the wires and connections, took the starter out and cleaned it up - everything was ok.
I got sick of having to try 1, 2, or 6 times to start my car so I replaced the starter, and it did the same freaking thing 1 or 2 times over a couple weeks, then disappeared.
My guess is that it IS the starter, and the one I bought is slightly defective or something, and is not much better. I cheaped out and bought one from AutoZone - a rebuilt one for sure. But it has worked perfect for the last 6 months. My starting problem seemed to be worse when it was cold out, so we'll see what happens in the winter.
Nothing worse than some weird, intermittant starting problem - aggravating as hell. I am still shocked that I had to replace the starter on a 94 "Honda" with 80k miles - not quite the legendary Honda reliability I once knew.

I would really make it a priority to get it fixed. The main reason is safety. It occured to me that if I was in say, stop and go rush hour traffic on the highway, and my **** stalled, and then I couldnt restart it instantly - well, you can imagine....

Good luck amigo...
