Problem, please read to give idea's
This isnt for my car but a buddy's that is not registered here so Im posting it for him. Please see if anyone can help or give him idea's.
if someone could also post this on Honda-Tech, I would apreciate it, they don't accept new registration at this time
SO here goes:
Il all my motor died like 3 times this weekend. Friday I was driving slowly at 70kmh when my motor just died. I pulled to the side and while I was still rolling re-started the car and then kept driving home. I'm wondering WTF happened?!
Saturday I drive up to MTL and back in the rain without any problems.
Sunday I drive around Hull and Ottawa in the rain and still no problem.
Later that day, I decide to go out again. I start the car and let it run while I get something out of the trunk. Well the motor bog, stalled once but kept running, and then 20 sec later, it died again. WTF?? I get in the car and try to start it, nothing, it tunrs but it doesn't fire. I take the key out of the ignition and retry starting the car again, and it starts. I go back in the house, wait 30 min and I go back out to check my oil level. Dipstick shows nothing. So I go to the service sttation at the corner of my street and add in 1 pint of oil.
This morning I check the oil level and it's perfect. I just add an oil change done friday june 7.. how come I lost 1 pint of oil in such a short time?? Anywayz, I have to go to work so I get on the highway. It's going great when 5 min into the drive, the motor dies again sorta, but very briefly. The speedo goes down to zero, rpms go down to zero..and a fraction of a second later,e verything comes back to normal! WTF??
What can be the problem?? Fuel feed? Spark?
Anywayz, I'll call Honda later to make an appointement so they can check this out.
I have a 2000 SiR with just over 43 000kms... this is defenately not normal. Atleast I still have a warranty.
Chris....

It would help to post a list of any mods he's done
If it's bone stock my money would be on either a bad fuel injector or a loose spark plug wire.

Im trying to think of mods. Beside lowering and **** that doesnt matter would be that I know of. CAI, exhaust and headers. That would be about it besides plugs/wires.

Hi guys, Spoolin posted this for me yesterday cause the registration was disabled.
MY mods are simple I/H/E bolt-ons with nothing else done to the motor itself.
Any more suggestions?
SO far I've been told it could be my ignition or a bad ground.
As for the oil, someone told me it might be leaking at the crank seal
... but I've checked and no oil seems to be leaking anywhere.Honda techs checked it too when I did my oil change june 7.

I would guess it's your igniter, since it's not doing it when it was cool (rain). Then acting up during the warmer weather, or idling do to heat build up...
Just my thoughs....
Just my thoughs....
The speedo goes to zero when it dies? I'm not sure, but if the ignition is still on then the speedo should remain up if you're rolling. This tells me it's electrical, check your main relay, etc.
I could be wrong about the speedo though...

I hear ya... i was thinking about that last night...
my radio stays on and nothing lights up in the dash.. so mabe it is the relay..
but where is that relay exactly... I installed oem fog lights about 3 weeks ago.. maybe I pulled on something while I was under the dash!?!?!?

I think you should have your alternator checked. My girlfriend had the same problem as you, car would die and sometimes it wouldn't even start. Just a thought though.
