Default powerwash a block?

i have a bare block, out of the car. Can I powerwash it? If so, what precautions should I take or things to tend to?

makes sure the main caps are off as well and power wash them seperately. Id use the soapy setting at your car wash. Apply some simple green, let it sit for a few minutes, wash and repeat. Then make sure you dry the block and parts thoroughly then apply some lube to the cylinder walls.

I would worry about forcing tiny particles of dirt/debris into the metal. So I'd have to say "ney" to this idea. Altho a steam clean would be an awesome idea to melt away the crud.

okay one more time I guess... I dont want to take my block to the car wash... I have a powerwasher at my house, is this safe to use on the outside of the block and where the main seal goes?

Yes, don't listen to what the other guy said, its misinformation. Spray some simple green on the block let it soak and wash it off. Even if you don't want to wash the cylinders after you dry the block you should lube them up with regular motor oil or another lube.

i have a powerwasher myself, im finding alternatives to avoid the $50 tag that the machine shop charges.

If i were to wash the cylinders, wouldnt they rust? or just spray them with wd40 as soon as i dry them?

it would rust if you left them sitting after you wash it, lube is with oil or wd40, and keep it away from moisture.
