Porting worthwile?
What is the usual gain in horsepower by porting/polishing the head on an otherwise stock B16A2? Also, is a half point increase in compression noticeable?
TIA

.5 gain in compresssion wint really give you much.
you could gain some power by doing a nice valve job and doing some blending of the throats/top cut/ combustion chambers. pretty much just improving on the flaws

mmuller,
Shall clean up the casting flaws and perform some bowl work as you suggested.
I have a first gen B16A with auto cams and am planning to install a set of B16A2 manual cams and valve springs. Since the compression is 10.2 compared to the B16A2's 10.4, I was thinking of shaving the head 0.020" in order to increase the compression......what do you suggest? Should I leave the compression as it is?

yes as hybridvteceg sayd, milling is the last resort for gaining compression.
.2 will not make a difference in power, i would just leave it as is.
