how would you go abt polishing aluminum that is not smoothed out so to say. like the block and stuff?? how can i get it smoothed out and wat do i need to do it with??
Polishing a block is a pain. You should start by sanding the really rough places or use a sanding disk on a die grinder. Then you just need to go through several stages of polishing compound, starting with a very aggressive one and ending with a very fine rouge. You will need a die gringer to run the bobs or a flexible shaft that attaches to a bench grinder to run small wheels.
Again, polishing a block is a huge task. I did it once for a project where I polished every last part under the hood and I will never do it again. Better off just painting it.
Polishing smaller aluminum parts is relatively easy and just takes some patience. You need a sturdy bench grinder, some buffing wheels and compound. You can get all of the supplies from Eastwood. Use a different wheel for each compound so that you don't mix them.
