Default Please help diagnose my problem...

Yesterday I did a compression test and it came up 230-230-210-225.

Well, I took a look at my block and was horrified. The entire thing was filthy and covered with grease and oil all over it, and I just cleaned it the week before. It seems the head is the source of the problem and I'm not too sure if maybe the headgasket is blown or not?

I recently changed the oil and plugs, and I when I did the compression test I checked my plugs and they look all ashy and white at the tips, like the engine was running too hot, but there was no oil on them.

I also burn alot of oil, about a quart every 500 or so miles, and I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 (hoping it will burn slower than my previous 5w30).

Its pretty obvious but I'm wondering if this would have a major impact on the performance of the motor?

leaking oil wont hurt performance as long as you still have adequate pressure

Your compression numbers would be horrid if the head gasket was blown, take a look at your cam plug and valve cover gasket

A common seal to leak on these high reving hondas is the Cam seal! Located right next to the distributer! Very cheap and easy to fix! Also, check the valve cover gasket, Distributer o-ring!

Maybe thats it!!!

Because thats exactly where the leak seems to be coming from, right by the distributer. Good, I'm glad it wasnt the headgasket, that would have sucked to have to replace, since I've never done anything as technical before, but I have my helms manuals and alot of tools...

So it could be either the camseals, distributer o-ring, or the valve cover gasket? Also, I have never adjusted the valves on this car as I didnt know how, but I bought the $19 kit from harbor freight and it should be in the mail shortly, so I'll just replace those seals/gaskets at that time then.

How does my compression look?
