Default Please guide me on this purchase...

Hey guys, I'm going to check out a 1995 Integra LS motor on Friday. I've never purchased a motor before. If there's any advice you have, i'd GREATLY appreciate it. Anything I should look for? Supposedly it only has 45k on it.

Any, and all help is very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Goldfingiz

check the oil, see if it's fresh and you can smell it. if it's not fresh, prolly been sitting there for a while. compression and leakdown test is always good. have him run it for you if at all possible.

They should have it on an engine mount so you can test it. If not walk away.

Have him pull the valve cover off. If he is willing the oil pan also. If this is posable. Check for excesive wear or "slugy" oil.

if hes not compliant, because there is no reason not to be, don't take it, if he won't do it, ask if you can...if you can check for excessive wear on the cam lobes as well

Thanks guys, I'll pull the valve cover...what would 'excessive wear' look like?

the lobes should look smooth and look for chaifing = damaged.
pull the cap off the dizzy and look @ the rotor and check out the plugs.
ask for his maintence records if he has any.

Good Luck
