Plastigage for Connecting Rods
Ok I tried to plastigage my rods last night with .001-.003 plastigage. The problem is my clearances are way out of spec. I was wondering seeing the specs range from .0008-.0015 if the gage I have is for too large of a clearance. When I checked them it was at about .0016 or .0017. I know the orginal bearing were brown and I'm using ACL std bearings. The orginal bearing showed little to no wear so they should still be with in specs. I had the crank micro polished and the big end of the connecting rod checked. The machine shop didn't say anything about needing oversized bearings or doing anything to make either that much larger. Any help you can offer is great and appreciated. TIA
Ok I was just wondering b/c the Honda svc manual for the B18s say its .0008 to .0015. I have looked at the B16 svc manual and it says the service limit was .0015 and a chiltons says .0020. So would it be the same srv limit of .0020 for the connecting rods is that why .0017 is going to be safe. Its a ls-vtec and will be draged some to 8200 rev limit but not autox so it wouldn't be held at high RPM for very long. Its also a daily driver.
ok thanks just wanted to make sure that .002 was the accual svc limit and not the .0015.
guess gonna make sure 1 more time then get ready to get it together.
