Default piston sanding?

i just got some custom Arias pistons and heard that i should sand the sharp points to prevent hot spots which cause detonation. is that something that i could do myself or should they be sent out. i have trouble stomaching the thought of sandpaper touching something so beautiful. not to mention the cost of them! but at the same time i dont want to detonate either!

what i want to know is, how difficult it is? who should i trust if sent out? and if i do it myself what grit paper should i use? if i were to even use paper. anyone know about this kind of stuff? thanks guys

its not really needed on aftermarket forged pistons. its usually pre-done @ the manufacturer.

just make sure there are no sharp edges on the valve relief's. thats where carbon likes to form and ****.

go on to endyn's web site(theoldone.com)and read the article on engine building tips/pistons...i've been doing this to all of my motors wih no problems yet...besides i would follow their advice over most people on honda-tech(there are exceptions though)

i will, thanks for the link. i completely forgot about that site. also what about polishing the piston after cleaning up the sharp edges to reduce carbon build up?
