Default pinging...what's wrong?

lately i heard pinging on my parent's 98 CRV. at first, i thought it might be just be inside the car or maybe the suspension but everytime i take my feet off the gas pedal it doesn't happen then as soon as i step on it, then there it goes again. i tried switching different gas station thinking that it might just be bad gas but still the same.

any ideas why is it pinging? any damage parts perhaps or is there any parts to be replaced? can it be maintenance related? if so, what should i replace or check?

by the way, the CRV is bone stock.

any help will be appreciated.

i've already used high octane. i tried a 97 octane Shell and another at 98 octane here in our area but still does it. what would cause carbon build up inside the combustion chamber?
