I just bought a new PCV valve and I was wondering should it rattle , like it's got beads inside, when you shake it?

 

Some of them do. It's ok.

 

I bought a new PCV from Discount Auto...one of those Fram $2.49 deals. Stuck it in there, and man was that thing LOUD. So loud, that with the hood closed and windows up, I could still hear it. I didn't like that too much so I went to the honda dealer and bought a OEM PCV for $22.00 No rattle at all, so I was happy.
You get what you pay for

 

Dayum, your PCV actually made that much noise? I bought one of the cheap ones from Autozone and can't hear it when the engine is in operation.

 

Many aftermarket PCV valves flow too much air and cause the vehicle to run lean. Stick with OEM PCV valves, worth the extra change.

 

Doesn't make sense since the ECU since compensate for any extra air.

 

Let me clarify-a PCV valve that flows too much air at idle is like a vacuum leak. Very little effect above idle. At idle, the EACV (IACV) can usually compensate for the extra air.
