Default PCV Valve Question -- It fell out !!

I installed my STR Intake manifold a while back and it had no provisions for the pcv valve connection....so what i did was just put the pcv valve at the end of the hose connected to the black box under the manifold and left it never really had a problem that i linked to it....well i just took my manifold off the other day and the hose with the pcv vlave at the end that i had connected to the black box under the manifold has no more pcv valve in it

my question is am i in trouble?
i didnt really notice any change in my car recently
is the pcv valve needed?
anyone have any recommendations??

Without the PCV valve the air is not filtered from the oil so a combination of air/oil can be sucked back up into the manifold... You may notice it when corning or upon hard acceleration that your car burns oil... Are you saying that the tube that connects ur manifold to the PCV box isn't there or is not connected? If then you motor shouldn't run right.. It may idle high or erratic... Lemme know if there anything weird goin on... Latez

yes there is basically nothing connecting to the pcv box right now if fell out. ( what i had was the pcv valve open to air connected to a hose to the pcv box). Well as far as idle yes its not normal but there are so many things done to my car its hard to deterimine what the culprit is.

Let me know what i have to do to get things straithtn out again

if i'm not mistaken, the PCV valve doesn't filter anything. it acts like a check valve in that it allows the vacuum from the intake manifold to pull in air from the black oil separator box on the block ... but doesn't allow positive or 0 pressure from the intake manifold to go TO the black oil separator box.

The question is, do you need to but pulling the vapors from the black oil separator box out by vacuum source (usually provided by the intake manifold). If not, then you will be fine.. although you're polluting the atmosphere.

Yes you are correct.... but what is was sayin is with the tube connected which i thought it may be but without a PCV valve then the vac allows oil to be sucked right back up into the manifold..... Like i said this can happen upon hard acceleration and corning... This it what catch cans are for.... Latez
