p72 head on b16 block
nothing wrong with a b16 running a p72 head. It just wont be as good as the b16 running a b16 head because the casting of the b16 is the same as the type r minus the mild pnp from the factory. P72 heads are great for forced induction, ive heard they offer better fuel atomization but i cant confirm.

No there not, people just hate the GSR stock manifold, The GSR head gives more compression, and every time i've seen 2 similar set up's it's the one with the GSR head that almost always has more power. If I remember right @.500 lift at the valve the GSR flows 153.14 cfm and the B16 flows 151.29 cfm. I think that the GSR head has more potential, but the stock manifold does suck.

There is your answer, k20rex. The pr3 head will have a 42.7 cc combustion chamber while a p72 will have a 41.6 cc combustion chamber.
This is the route I am taking with my build. The casting is it though. I won't be using the IM, LMAs, valvtrain, cams, etc.

Maybe because they wanted to take advantage of having dual runners in a b16, which would help mid range torque.
both heads have their advantages; pr3 has little better exhaust ports, p72 has more quench and personally its intake port is preferred.
