P30 in a GSR?
My friend has a 93 hatch with a GSR swap. The motor and engine harness is from a 99 if that makes a difference. Can he plug in a chipped P30 in place of the P72 and not have any problems? He has a Skunk 2 manifold so the IABs arent a problem.
Thank you,
Frankie

If the 99 GSR motor has the 99 engine harness with it (OBD2a), then yes, he can use that harness in his 93 civic. It will plug into his existing OBD1 shock tower plugs (minus a few extra plugs). But when it comes to the ecu, he should use an OBD1 ecu such as the a reprogrammed P30. If he ran the P72 ecu, he'd run into problems. You guys are on the right track...

the car had already ran for a while with the P72, but he just did the skunk 2 intake mani and he wants to run the P30. The pinouts are exactly the same between them?
wait a sec..is the P72 ecu OBD2 or OBD1 ?
if the P72 plugs right into his 93 civic's existing ecu plugs then yes it has the same exact ecu pinouts as the P30 ecu.

Everything is OBD1 except the motor and engine harness. I wasnt sure if the P30 and P72 had the same pinout cuz on HybridGarage it has both pinouts but they had some things labled different. I thought maybe they were different cuz of the different names. What about a P28, is it the same too?
all of the OBD1 civic/integra & prelude ecu's have the same overall pinouts; there's only small differences in pinouts such as the IAB's, knock sensor, and evap purge solenoid...

The P72 can be either OBDI or OBDII.

yeah I know this...
he didn't say if the P72 they were using was OBD1 or OBD2.

I know the Prelude ecu is different. Where the P30 and P72 have MAP 5volt the Prelude P13 has EGR stuffs. I had a H22 in my 92 hatch and I switched to a P72 and had to repin the MAP sensor.
