Default Overheating.....kinda

hello everybody,

my name is chris and i have a 1993 Honda Accord Special Edition. it was given to me for free but had an overheating issue. i patched a small hole in the radiator and purchased a new thermostat.
i drove around and still overheated. to see if the thermostat was the culprit, i just took the thermostat out and drove her around again. this seemed to do the trick but i overheated at idle.
***here is the weird part: if i rev the engine (at a complete stop), the temp goes down.
so to keep from overheating at a long stop light, i just stick her in nuetral and rev until the temp comes down.
....so how do i fix this little issue?

chris

ps: i have owned and fixed aircooled volkswagens. this is my first watercooled "project" car.

I'd say replace the waterpump and see if that helps you out. Is your fan working properly?

is your cooling fan comming on ? if not their could be a few things wrong like a possiable fan switch or a fan timer.
