Default Is it normal for the temp gage to slightly increase when cooling system has been changed?

Yesterday I had my radiator replaced with an aftermarket and had the thermostat replaced as well with a generic Autozone type. Today was my first drive with the new cooling system and I noticed the temp. gage slightly increased. Its still below the middle marker. Is this something I should worry about? Could it be the thermostat?

Below the 50% mark is good, but how much higher is it, really?

I could've sworn that it's possible to install the T-stat backwards also..

Thanks Jim for the reply. I've been driving my car for two years, I'm so use to seeing the marker at a specific point in the gage that I know its climbed. Its still a good ways below the middle marker. But as you said, as long as its below the middle marker I'm okay. I'll be observing the gage in the next few days.
