That's a different sensor - the ECU doesn't see that; it only throws a code if the ECT sensor is bad.

If the sender for the dashboard gauge is bad, the ECU has no way of knowing about it, so it won't throw a code. In that case, the engine isn't actually getting hot.
If the engine is actually overheating, look for other stuff in the cooling system. You already changed the T-stat, but it's not impossible for the new one to be bad. Then look for a plugged radiator, blocked hoses, air bubbles, ???

check your coolant level. Check the head gasket too... when the cars sitting and the temp shoots up, rev it up to see if your temp starts to go down. if so... then you have low fluid levels (leaks somewhere), or your coolant system is clogged somewhere.
just had tstat replace with honda parts, and coolant system was bled, still over heats after running for 30-45 minutes at idle, when i rev it up temp goes begins to go down, fluid level is full. Do I need to change my head gasket?
How good is your radiator? Buildup of crud inside? See if you can get a little mirror in the cap & look around. When it overheats, check your upper & lower radiator hose temperatures. If it's plugged, the lower hose gets cool, but there isn't enough flow rate to cool the engine.
take the rad. cap off let the car warm up.after it warms up give it a couple of full throttle jolts and if you shoot water out of the rad.like a volcano exploding, then you most likely have a head gasket blowed.do a compression test and that will also tell you.
so something is pressurizing the radiator, the top hose get hot and hard as hell while the lower hose stays cold and soft.
Is there a difference in head gaskets between the B16A2 and the B18C1. My block is a B16a2 and my head is a B18C1?
Thanks for the help.

If they both had pressure, then I'd tell you to check your thermostat first. But the lack of pressure at the outlet sounds like the water is having a hard time getting through the radiator.
