Default overheating

car started to overheat today while at a redlight, put didnt get all the way to hot, then when i took off from the light the temp went back to normal. i popped the hood when i got home and my overflow bottle was full, and both hoses were the same temp. i think its my fan, but any other suggestions?? rad cap?? oil isnt milky and coolant is green as can be so i dont think its the head gasket.

to check if it's the hoses are clogged take your thermostat out and roll around for a bit to see if you temp guage rises at all. If you it doesn't then you know it's not ther thermostat. Is your fan kicking on at all? If not then hook up your fan directly to the battery to see if it's even kicking on. Sounds like either a Bad fan temp sensor or the thermostat

update, the fan kicks on after idling for a while. and both of the hoses get warm, but the top hose gets alot warmer than the lower hose. and i took the cap off and there is tiny little black pieces floating in the coolant. the car has not overheated since this time. did the thermostat stick just once?? ive let the car idle for about 30 mins and it didnt overheat.

if you go through the trouble of pullint hte thermostat to look at it then just replace it at the same time .... it jusnt isnt worth taking it apart a second time
