Overheating = warped head?
I'm running a built turbo'd b16a and have been experiencing overheating quite a bit. It happens usually after the car has been on for a while and I'm at a stop (fine on the freeways most of the time). I usually just turn my heater on to full and it will bring down the temps back to normal.
Problem is, a few days ago I just pulled into my drive way and went inside the house real quick to open the garage. Well, when I got back outside and in the car (probably two minutes), I noticed the temp gauge was at full hot (in the red) so I quickly turned the car off. I popped the hood and it sounded like the coolant/water was boiling. The resivor was almost full too.
The head was rebuilt and has a little warrenty badge on it, where if the middle melts that means the head over heated. Well, I was doing a valve adjustment today and realized it was melted. I'm guessing it's from that driveway incident but I'm wondering if the head is warped. I'm pretty sure my head gasket is going bad (slight leak from the left front corner I think...) so I plan on replacing it soon. I'm just hoping the head isn't warped. I have no idea how long it takes for a head to warp at what temperature but I'm hoping two minutes wouldn't have hurt it... too much?
If it is warped, I'm guessing my only option is to get it milled to even out the head? So much for this head gasket.. less than 5k miles on it (cometic head gasket) and it already seems to be dying.
Thanks.
