Icon6 overheat problem. help!

just put an obd2 b18c in my 97 EK EX.

i have a couple problems.
biggest being an overheating problem.
i still have the stock civic radiator installed.
when the car runs for a while, the upper hose gets hot and swells up.
The lower hose is cold as if there is no flow through it. I took the thermostat out and get the same results. It also has a new water pump.
The last thing i changed before noticing this problem was i bypassed the heater core.

Besides that the engine is not running 100%. i used the stock EK wiring harness and i have a couple extra sensor plugs with no home..
One is the ckf sensor which is not on the b18c since its a jdm motor. the other i have no clue, it seems to have plugged into a sensor near the thermostat on the d15.

Lastly, ever since i did the swap my obd2 scanner will not establish a connection. It used to work before. I do have gsr computer plugged in.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

the connector on the thermostat housing is your fan switch...if its not plugged in or is not working properly your motor can overheat...does your fan come on...do you have any leaks?

the fan does come on. The overheating problem seemed to have mysteriously went away..very concerning.
But i still have a problem figuring out exactly which connector goes where. also the car is very slow. possibly because vtec is not kicking in. but i cant get the cel to go away!!!

you need to jump your ecu to get the CEL.. theres a blue plug thats under your pass side glove box towards the right.. find that 2 pin plug and jump it off with a paper clip or a piece of wire. after you jump it you turn the key all the way on without starting the car.

how to read the CEL:

1 long blink stand for 10... 2 long ones = 20... 3 long ones = 30.. you get it..

short blinks are counted as 1..

so lets say you get a code 41... which is an 02 sensor.. you'll get 4 long blinks and 1 short one.. get my drift?

you need to figure out what codes you're throwing and than you can start to fix you problems. pm me if you need help or AIM: billy so lazy good luck
