Default Open header?

Hey guys I'm trying to save some cash but also not cut into a bad corner. Here is what I'm thinking. At the end of the header you put a y pipe, on side leads to your stock exhaust and the other has a valve to keep it shut. whenever you want to drag or go wide open throttle you can open the valve on the y and the exhaust will go out the open pipe has this been done before and if it has who makes it?

Id suggest about 2-3 feet of pipe after the collector. so maybe do it before the resonator?

I have seen some people did that; it is loud, but I heard it helps on some power gain.

check out an electric exhaust cutout, or something you can control from inside the engine ie. with a lever or something.

Good idea, but keep in mind its a tinker toy electric motor. and when its open the motor is getting power. So of course, it burns out and fails and you have a nascar exhaust untill you get another 100 dollar cutout to replace it with.

My friends have used the e cutouts. They last as long as a virgin in harlem.

This is cheaper than getting a full custom! and you can flip it on whenever you need it

I hear alot of this running open header loses backpressure = lower HP is this true when the application is drag full throttle? This is going on a LS/VTEC all motor.
