Default Oily Grime on b18b? Problem?

Hello all,

I have an LS Integra and I noticed today that in one area it is much dirtier than the rest of the engine. Please take into consideration that my engine bay has never been cleaned and my car is a 1995, so if that is the cause for the grime let me know. The only thing I have modded that is bolted right to the engine are Comptech headers. My question is, do I have a problem, what is that thing, it is the problem, how much will it cost to fix, is it going to hurt anything if it doesn't get fixed, why is it broken?

Here's my picture:

Thanks everyone,
Ben

Cam seals.....You can get them at the dealership, or aftermarket, i.e. STR etc....

Thats a combination of cam seal(What is this?) and valve cover gasket. The gaskets are leaking because they are 7 yrs old. This can be fixed for under $15 if you do it yourself. I wouldn't leave it like that, and until you fix it keep an eye on the oil level.

When you put the valve cover back on, tighten the front left first, then do the criss cross pattern. Get some hondabond for the cam seal, and use some simple green and a hose to clean that crap off. Check the PCV valve too, make sure its functioning correctly.

That is not a cam seal!!it is a cam cover and yes str makes em.If you go to honda and ask for a cam seal youll get the one for the side where the cam gears are.So dont ask for a cam seal cuz you get a lill round thing that looks like a doughnut.Ask for the cam cap cover. That also does look like a cobination of head gasket seal and cam cap.

Honda actually calls it a "Right cylinder head seal", and STR makes "pro seals". **** your cam cover. It would have to be a pretty big hole for the headgasket to leak oil in a low pressure, drain area of the head.
