Default oil on spark plug?

Can oily spark plug threads be from bad spark plug gaskets, or more likely bad headgasket?

or valve seals...

do a compression test...

if your numbers are low, put some oil in the combustion chambers and do the test again....

if the numbers are still low, it's your valve seals, if your numbers are higher then it's your rings...

you want it to be your valve seals though...good luck...

Yea, I'm doing compression and leak down tests soon just for kicks. This motor will be coming out in the spring, so if it's rings or seals, they'll be replaced anyway. Thanks for the replies.

Could your valve cover be leaking on top of the plugs and when you take them out lookin like they are covered with oil. Just checkin.
