Default Oil Pump question?

Im building a CRVtec engine, is there a difference between a B16 oil pump and a B20b oil pump? I plan to use a B16 oil pump assmebly for my setup.

What is the average life of an OEM oil pump? When should i replace them?

use the b16 oil pump... it pushes more oil pressure than the b20 for the use of vtec.

B20 oil pumps, at least the '99-'00 ones, are the same as VTEC oil pumps, and late LS oil pumps (i think 99 and up or so) are also the same as VTEC oil pumps.

see, now that is good to know. so a B20 or later B18B non-VTEC oil pump will work.

yes. ask the dealer for 2000 gsr, itr, ls, and crv pumps. all the same. the housings are different, though, for earlier OBD-I cars, but since no B20-B/Z was sold here w/ OBD-I you're fine. pretty sure on the housings, but it's been a while.

So what happens if i use my stock b20b oil pump with my CRVtec setup? Vtec wont engage? Will it cause any probs?

i'm sure v-tec will engage but i might worry about lack of oil pressure if it cant keep up with high revving operation.

Is the B16 oil pump still different from the ITR/GSR/late ls crv oil pumps?
