oil light blinking
I was driving and all of a sudden the oil light started to blink. I stopped checked the oil and it was at proper level. I started car and light went away. I kept driving and it turned on again. I let car sit and cool and oil level is still fine, could the sensor be bad?
I think mine was about $40, its nothing major. Its quite easy but time consuming bc you have to go through the timing belt, get a manual if you dont have one.
yup. mine blew too. had the b16 in for 3 days. reved it up to 7k once and came back knocking. unfortunately i didnt get the convinience of a light before hand. it started blinking afterwards. by then it was too late....only to be reborn lsvtec in a month

I had the same problem on my old b16a motor, but after couple days of that everything worked okay. I have no clue what the problem was but I would like to know.
Here is my advice to u!!!
I had the same problem.
take out ur oil pan if it has a dent hit it out check up the Pick Up Coil see if its clogged or dirty if not then try change the sensor then if that does not work change the Oil Pump they hardly go bad to tell you the truth... but u never know.. So just in case change it if everything fails.
You wouldn't like a blow motor

All the above
Plus check the blow off valve in the bottom of the oil pump.
I've read that honda oil pumps rarely go bad, as well, but if they do it's
because of the blow off valve sticking in it's bore. R+R if bad.

yeah mine kept blinking, i blew my motor...but im coming back i've got a new sohc zc coming in woohoo! Anyone know how severe the damage is? When i turn on my car the engine literally squeels. Anyone know if the crank would be bad or if the pistons are f*cked? I Really just want to replace the rings and bearings and rehone and try again, but i doubt it'll be that easy. just from experience what happened to your internals as a result of destroying an engine due to low oil pressure and/or lack of oil?
Well, on my Harley Sportster the conn rods share a common crank journal, and it was the conn rod journal bearing that disintegrated.
On my friends MG, it was either a crank bearing or a rod bearing, I can't remember. But, it's usually a bottom end bearing that's the first to let go.

Yes,88crx91int.
It depends on how bad the crank is, you could just have the journals
redone or if it's really bad. Time for a new crank.
At that point, unless your getting it done for free or doing it yourself,
might as well get a whole new motor.

If the problem started shortly after an oil change, I'd replace the filter with one of a different brand. I've had bad filters that restricted the oil flow. One acted like it was air locked until it was loosened and let some air out of it. Never figured it out but replaced it and everything was fine after that. Another just gave low oil pressure, replaced it and it was back where it should be. That was on a Mazda RX7 that has a pressure guage.
With a motor that had low oil pressure and then knocks, probably rod bearings. Coul easily have damaged the crank journals, possibly damaged the rods by spinning the bearings in them, could also have damage to the main bearings. There could also be damage to the cam bearings, which are the actual head casting, so that can get really expensive.

as Mohudsolo said about the oil filter, after an oil change thats when i started havng the blinking light problem. That was with mobil 1 filter, i just switched out filter yesterday for a penzoil one. The car was working great with no signs of low oil pressure. The light came on for a second and that was it while i was idleing at a stop light. didnt come on after that though.
