I just finished assembling my LS/VTEC and today I installed it, and when my buddy and I first gave it a start, it took us a few tries (as expected) but when it started to idle for about 30 seconds, we noticed the Coolant resevoir Overflowing!!
So, I immediatly shut the car down, and we opened the resevoirs to Find a Coolant/OIL Mixture!!
What happened???
We removed the valve cover to find coolant all over the rocker arms and inside the head.
Finally I we said to ourselves, "Better take the head off".
Well, when we did, there again was this residue of OIL and Coolant.
However, The Spark Plugs were fine, not saturated or anything, still looked new, just like before I put them in.
And as for the Cylinder Walls, they were dry as well..
Can anyone help me PLEASE?? I am lost, and VERY tired, I have been up all night.

Things I would check:
Correct headgasket used?
Dowel pin height too much? (I would check this out)
Flat deck on block and cyl head?
Correct torque on headbolts/headstuds?
Oil cooler core possibly shot? (longshot)
Measure dowel pin hole depth on both cyl head and block, factor in headgasket crush thickness...then compare to measured height of dowel pins. You may need to gind them down to allow full seating of cyl head to block surface.

There is no Oil Cooler on this motor, I am using a B16 water neck, not the ITR one that has the extra outputs for coolant to oil filter.
I don't know what else it could be. I am using the Golden Eagle, Dowel Pins, and I don't know if they pose a threat, has anyone used them before???

Whats the best way for me to Flush out my oil and coolant galleys???
Also, can I reuse the NEW oil filter I had in it??? I pretty much filled it with oil, and dumped it out about 4 times, to get as much of the coolant out as possible.

sorry to hear that man, my only guess would be missalignment of the headgasket? I remember on a different thread u said u modified the headgasket to make the dowl pins fit. maybe that played a role in this?
Hope you get it fixed.

Thanks, yes apparently the headgasket holes for the dowel pins NEED to be "Opened or Honed" in order for the Golden Eagle Dowel Pins to fit.
Can anyone shed more light on this subject?

tttt...
Tried a new gasket today... DID NOT remove the factory keepers (brass rings) for the head gasket.
Only thing I modified was the holes for the dowel pins on the exhaust side.... (stud holes on exhaust side on each end of the block....)
Im lost...
What do most people use for dowels ?
I know you can drill your head & use factory ls dowels so you dont have to modify your headgasket....
Any pics/advice etc would be great....
