Default obd2 and obd2v2???

hey guys, sorry that i have to post this simple question, because i couldnt find anything with the search function. So what is/are the diff(s) between the two? I have a 97 teg, which is obd2, and im getting a 2000 gsr head, with 98 gsr block. from what i kno, 96-98 = obd2, and 99-01 = obd2v2, and since im getting an obd2v2 head with an obd2 block on an obd2 car, would this swap be possible using obd2v2 ecu? is the head & block compatible? i kno it's confusing i hope u guys understand what im trying to say here..

I can shed some light on this.. As far as i know OBD2a vs OBD2b is in the harness/ECU only. OBD2a uses 3 plugs at the ECU, OBD2b uses 2 plugs at the ECU. The wiring harness for OBD2a is a continue harness from engine to ECU, while the OBD2b has a seperate harness for cabin and engine bay.

So, to answer your question, there are no differences in the connectors in the engine bay, just at the ECU/Harness.

Are you going to be using the OBD2b ECU? You could use the harness then, but bear in mind some of the 00-01 ECUs have immobilizers

Lastly, OBD2v1=OBD2a, OBD2v2=OBD2b, etc..

Also: check out these harnesses- they will show the connectors @ the ECU

- some of the 00-01 ECUs have immobilizers

I know that USDM b18c5 (ITR) ECUs have immobilizers that will prevent the car from being started unless the matching key (with a chip) is inserted. I believe that the Integra GSRs 2000-2001 have them too, but I am not positive what others.
