Default obd1 motor in a obd2 car

Ok I have a friend who has just bought a obdI motor and wants to put it in a 96 civic. Now I know it would be just easier to leave it obd1 but the guy took the motor out cut the wiring harness. We have obd2 wiring harness and want to put that one on but just want to know will everything plug up fine. I thing the only thing missing from the obd1 motor will be the knock sensor which we have. Let me know if I'm right.

Use an OBD2 dizzy ( b series if b, d if d) on the obd1 motor. You can get an obd2 -obd1 harness from blown90hatch and run the correct ecu for the motor you have. Everything else should be fine.

it also might depend on the model of your car and the type of motor it is.. is it a ex?? b series or d series?

B series. He has a ex wiring harness that has be prepared for a b series motor. So the only thing he needs is to know what he has to replace on the motor.

Thats what I did... OBD1 SiRII b16 in a 96 civic. I just cut/spliced everything. As long as you use the correct OBD1 ecu you wont have to change anything. The wiring gets a little confusing at times, so if you need any help, just hit me with a PM. Good luck to you and your friend.

i just did my LS into my ex.. obd 1 to obd 2.. i had to extend the O2 plug to the back of the motor, your IAC should be fine if you have a manual ex, ummm i also rewired my IAT from the intake arm to the 1st runner on my intake manifold, rewired my injecters, everything else should plug up... i rewired my alternator and dizzy to OBD 1 also..

so all you really need is IAT plug, and if you need to, the alternator and dizzy plugs..

good luck

IAT = Intake Air Temperature... i think the one on the civic is on the intake arm.. thats where mine was but my civic was a automatic... the one on the b series motor will be on the 1st runner of the intake manifold.. front or back.. depending on what year your motor is.. correct me if i'm wrong.. are you swapping a LS or a GSR in??? I dont think LSs need a knock sensor..

ummm.. not very sure where the IAT is on the b16... try getting a manual for that motor, they should have diagrams for the emissions. all you really need from the b16 harness is the injectors(i think), alternator and dizzy...IAT if its a different one(<<<not sure either)... everything should plug in.. correct me if i'm wrong.
