obd0 - obd1 harness question
I am getting ready to do my conversion harness but have a question.. What is the zig-zag system that the diagrams talk about.. And what way are people looking at the plugs when they say what pin location they are.. Any help or even a few pics on this would be great.. thanks
Looking at the ecu. uppper left is pin one, below that is pin 2.
13
24
would be the first four pins.
Now when you are looking at the chassis plugs, visualize when you plug them in, it will be mirrored. So I usually count from the wire side, makes it easier.

So when your looking at the obd0 ecu plug.. Pin1 is the upper left.. And when your looking at the obd1 plugs with the wires comming out the back, pin1 is the upper right pin correct?? also im looking at http://www.geocities.com/chipm....html for my diagram.. It says pin A4 and also shows pin A15 as the vtec pin.. If I am looking at the obd1 harness cut from a civic with the wires comming out the back is it pin A4 or A15 assuming pin A1 is in the upper right corner of the plug.. This question make any sense..
You would look at the backside of the ECU plug where the wiring comes in, not the open front side that plugs into the ECU. This is the standard way of reading pin locations regardless of the OBD of the ECU. The upper left on the backside of the ECU plug would always be #1.
The zig zag method would be like this:
____________
| 1 | 3 | 5 | 7 |
-----------------
| 2 | 4 | 6 | 8 |
Then there is the straight across method:
____________
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
-----------------
| 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
The zig zag method would be like this:

Ahhh.. So the zig-zag method is just another way of numbering the pins.. I like the straight method better.. Thanks for your info.. Im going to start on the converter tonight..
