Default OBD Alternator differences?

Are all honda OBD0-OBD1 alternators interchangeable?
And are their plugs and wiring, as well?
Can I plug an OBDO engine harnes into an OBD1 B series alternator?
Will that work? The plugs look exactly the same.
And what about the one extra wire in the OBD0 alt. connector?
What do I do with it?

-- interchangeable as in how? like putting an OBDO alt. on an OBD1 engine or vice-versa? if so, yes.

-- I believe the plugs are the same style and you can plug an obd0 alt. plug into an obd1 alt., although my memory is a little foggy on the subject

-- yeah, if the alt. plugs on either harness look exactly alike, its compatible.

well, what you can do is match up the wire colors. What exactly is your situation with these alternators?

Thanks Katman.
This is my situation.
OBD0 CRX
OBD1 B17
To save time and headaches I bought an OBD1 jumper and a hasport VTEC harness, but the VTEC engine harness is wired for OBD0, not OBD1.
I thought, not a big deal, right?
Wire in Ho2s
Just swap the dizzy and injector plugs and that's it.
But the aternator plug on the OBD0 hasport harness has 4 wires.
Yel ---------Wh/Yel
Wh/Blu-----------Blk/Yel
And the plug on the B17 alternator only has 3 wires.
Blu
W/Blu ---------------Blk/Yel
what do i do about the 2 colors that don't match? and/or the one extra wire?
Thanks again katman.

Ok here's what I found from checking both OBD1 and OBD0 alternator wiring diagrams. I can see the wiring differences.
The OBD0 circuit has the wht/yel wire going from the alt. to the ECU and the ELD simultaneously. OBD0 has an ELD located in the underhood fusebox.
The OBD1 does not.
There is NO ELD and no ECU/ELD inputs for it anywhere in the OBD1 circuit.
It seems that on OBD1 cars the ELD is incorperated into ICU in the under -DASH fusebox and wired completely different.

Are you sure your obd-0 only has 3 plugs. I just wired a '99 obd2 alternator into my '91 CRX and both years had 4 wires on the plug. I had to get a new plug for the obd2 alt, but otherwise they both had a L, IG, FR, and C circuit wich was printed on a small sticker ON the Alternator. A couple of the wire colors were different but with the scematic right on the alternators I didn't have any problems.

The OBD0 plug has 4= yel+white/yel+wht/blu+blk/yel
the OBD1 has only 3. blu+ wht/blu+blk/yel

That must be a Canadian Alternator because all the US ones had an ELD sensor.

Yes, you are correct sir, you win cookie! I forgot! It IS out of a canadian car.
So the new question is, can I use an OBD1 canadian GS-S alternator in an OBD0 US CRX, or should I use an alternator for a US car?
Does it make a difference?

I think the ecu will throw a cel if it's not getting a voltage from the eld. I could be wrong though.

But why would it NOT get that voltage?
I would think that ALL honda alternators are wired the same.
If you use a canadian OBD1 alternator in an OBD0 What would be the difference. If the plugs match it should work, right?
