OBD alternator differences
Are all honda OBD0-OBD1 alternators interchangeable?
And are their plugs and wiring, as well?
Can I plug an OBDO engine harnes into an OBD1 B series alternator?
Will that work? The plugs look exactly the same. But wire colors are different.
And theres one extra wire in the OBD0 engine harness alt. connector? Why?
I'm putting an OBD1 B17 into an OBD0 CRX DPFI with hasport conversion harness.

Ok, i'm still confused on your question, but:
An obd-1 dizzy can't be plugged straight into an 0bd-0 harness. They're different for a reason.

I'm not talking about the dizzy. I'm talking about the alternator connector.
Can I use the engine harness with the OBD0 green alternator plug with the 4 wires going into the back of it. On an OBD1 B17, even the though the harness that came with the B17 has the same green plug, but with
THREE instead of FOUR , different colored wires?
OR do I need to swap the plug from an OBD1 harness? And remove the fourth wire?
Where is VTECVillain?

Re: OBD alternator differences (4crx4me)
I have a 1991 honda civic Si. I have a b16a motor and i have used both 0bd-0 and and 0bd-1 altenators, and i had no problems. E verything functioned properly. Except the altenator belt was different for the obd-1 altenator. I'm not sure what extra wire your talking about.

VTECVillain? I know you know.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yes it will work no problem. I have a 94 GSR alternator on the 96 B18B1 motor in my 91 CRX DX. The OBD0 and OBD1 alternator plugs are the same so it's plug and play.

That particular OBD1 harness came from a car that doesn't have an ELD (Electric Load Detector) which is where the missing 4th wire would go.

Re: OBD alternator differences (VTECVillain)
i'm in the same boat. i'm putting a 98jdm typeR into a 94 cx and the typeR alternator has 4 wires but i'm using a 98 ls harness which only has 3wires. so i can use 3 wires on the typeR alternator and it'll be fine, right VtecVillain. also, do you happens to know what color wire correspond to each other between the typeR alternator and the ls harness.
thanks,
Thai
