Default obd1 alternator question

Is it possible to use the d series obd2 alternator plug in an obd1 b series alternator?

I read on a good swap guide here that swapping obd2 b series plugs into obd1 alternators were a go but the poster said they were not sure about the d series.

Anyone know?

You need to swap the "voltage regulator" (the part that has the plug) from 1 alternator into the other.
