Default obd 1 code reading

I searched the site before I posted but nothing turned up. But I just put and obd1 ecu in my civic and I want to know how to read the codes of it. ? I head you have to ground out a wire. ANy ideas ?

there is going to be 2 wires with plugs on the end of them... under the dash above the ecu.. get a paperclip and put one end in the one plug and the other end in the other plug.. then turn the key to the on position, dont crank it just to where the power comes on.. and watch for the check engine light cause its going to flash.. short flashes mean 1 and a long flash means 10.. so lets say it has a long flash then 7 short flashes.. that means its whatever code 17 is.. and then lest say it flashes 5 times real fash.. that means 5.. and then when you know what it is.. go to search on this site and try and find the trouble codes for it.. i had to do that the other day
