Hey I have a 96 EK hatch with a 99 gsr engine OBD2 to OBD1 set up with a JDM type r header. I need to get it inspected now, those anyone know if it will pass the new ny state emission law?

 

I' don't know. From what I here they hook directly up to the comp. under the dash on the driver's side. and the comp is sposed to tell the inspection machine what your vin is and if it doesn't match then no inspection for you. My friend is going throught the same thing with his 98 mustang. He took out the 4.6 and put in a 396 BB. He has to sell the the shell and buy a older car now. But keep us posted if you find out what the deal is on the inspections.

 

That is just what I came up with from info from other people. If you find out the fact's let us know for sure.

 

no it will fail. there are certain rediness codes in the ecu that have to be complete. they will not show on your OBD1 ecu therefore it will fail.

yes it will, just make sure that the car is driven for a while and the cel is off. reason i say to drive it is because the ecu has been disconnected and it needs to complete all of the readiness tests before it will pass the inspection test

try getting your car inspected in the city. They don't start using the computers until april.

i thought new york inspections stickers go by the county the car is registered in....
