Default Nubish question...why buy LSD???

Hey guys, I've always had a small understanding of what LSD is but can somebody clarify how it benefits the car??
I've seen a lot of people jump allover eachother to buy a SOHC LSD for their D-series..but what's the hype about it?? Does it provide better traction?

thanks

yes it does. If your car is modified, it helps put the power down a lot better than an open differential does. Plus, when you launch it prevents one wheel spinning quicker than the other it spins both wheels instead of just one.

it also helps handling by transferring power to the slipping wheel. hence the name, Limited Slip Differential.

there are many choices for a LSD, the choice is yours

An LSD helps ensure that power goes to the wheels with traction. It prevents one wheel from spinning uselessly while the other just sits there. If conditions are right, you may still madly spin both tires, but the point is that you are doing a better job of getting power to the wheels, and thus to the ground.
