Default Not Hitting VTEC, Please help!

Alright, I have 4th gen prelude with an H22A1 motor. I am having two problems. If anyone can be of any help, that would be GREAT!

1) The speedo isn't working and it throws the speedo engine code.

2) Not hitting vtec and hitting the rev limiter at 6.5k rpm's.

I am pretty sure those two problems are unrelated. VTEC and normal engine rev limiting were working after the speedo broke. I am pretty sure I know how to fix the speedo sensor. But what about the VTEC, low rev problem??? What could possibly be wrong? Any opinions would be awesome!!

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Sounds like your ECU may be running in a safe mode, to keep from causing other problems.

What should I do to fix this? Re-set the ECU or what?

Reset it and see if it throws a code.

VTEC will not work when some codes are present.
Fix your speed, and it will probably work again... look very carefully at the speed sensor and connector on the tranny.

Well the Ecu has to detect MPH in order for it to engage Vtec, so in other words if your speedo does not work u will not have vtec.
