ok, just swapped in my engine and i'm trying to start the damn thing up. I turn the ignition and i get that rapid eh..eh..eh..eh sound like its trying to turn over, al my interior electrical and lights are fine. However, when i removed a spark plug wire and put a plug in it to see if it was firing, i'm not getting any spark!!!!

what should i start checking and troubleshooting to make this happen?

 

CHeck the ground on your thermostat housing this was my problem.

 

could be the coil or the ignitor in the distributor, when my car wouldnt start (B18C) it turned out that the coil was fried!
