Noob advice on engine build
I just bought a 95 civic dx with a d15. i want to start drag racing it but im not sure what engine to put in it. i was thinking a b16a, i will be putting a turbo on it. should i go with forged pistons, rods, and crank, and what kind of heads. im probably goin to be putting skunk2 cams, retainers, valves, intake on it. and what ecu...i have no clue about ecu's or fuel systems, please leave me some advice, thanks

what is your goal..what 1/4 mile times are expecting to reach..what is your budget?

my goal is 1/4 mile under 12 seconds, my budget, i can spend about 12 grand on the engine, exhaust, turbo, and all that good stuff. i also want to get a 6 speed built for it, right now its 5 speed
I'd start with a simple b16 swap, build the head, headers, exhaust. Worry about block later on and just work your way down. But it is nice to have a goal in mind... are you going to keep the 1.6l engine or going for more displacment for your turbo setup?

im not sure yet, more displacement would be good, maybe a b18a, i dunno, thats one reason i asked, i dunno if i should go with a b16 or b18, one thing i really want to do is to be able to pull up to a mustang 5.0 and smoke it
haha yeah I agree with that one, killing 8's in a 4cyl is always a good feeling. I've done a little research on block replacement and have noticed ppl that are aiming for high reving all motor engines tend to stick with the b18. Other wise a nice b20vtec turbo is nearly cliche
B18C1, AEBS sleeves, JE 9:1 84mm pistons, Manley rods, stock cams and micro-polished crank, Full-Race Stage 2 kit, P&P Ferrea built head (by Dave @HeadGames 609-586-0354), and tuned by Evans-Tuning (610-759-2010)......11's for sure.....
TOO BAD YOUR NOT ON THE EAST COST WHERE THESE SHOPS ARE !!!

No need to build a car capable of 11's to do that. And where were you when I was trying to sell my engine?
Get a sleeved VTEC B-series with forged internals ( rods and pistons, the stock Honda crank is forged and works fine for big HP) and some head work (porting and valve train, you don't need aftermarket cams for a turbo car), and get a 5-speed tranny with a LSD, that will be one too many gears for the 1/4, but that extra one's nice for highway cruising. Invest in a good turbo setup (Lovefab, Full-Race, etc.) and good engine management (that also means paying a good tuner), then get some slicks and learn to drive it. There's a million other little things you'll find out along the way (clutch, motor mounts, traction bars, etc.), but that's the fun of making a little econobox go fast. E-mail me if you're serious about buying an engine, I've got a RLZ-built Darton-sleeved B16 (about 2000 miles on it) that makes about 400 daily driven WHP on 93 octane pump gas that I'll be selling soon when my Dart-block motor comes in. I'd planned on parting it out, but I'd sell it intact for the right price.
